This time I laid on the table a couple Composer Planning Tiles to help illustrate the concepts we had been reviewing. I wrote the amount of their property on the Estate Tile. For the first time, Mrs. Smith pulled closer and Mr. Smith uncrossed his arms and asked if their rare coin collection could be included in the estate. By erasing the figure on the tile we changed it to include the value of the collection. He looked at Mrs. Smith and nodded.
We continued our conversation with both of them becoming more involved in their personalized plan. We began to incorporate other concepts previously discussed through the use of Composer, one of which was the Children’s Planning Tile. As Mrs. Smith got more involved she focused on providing for the needs of a disabled child. It was easy enough to erase the figures on this planning tile. We adjusted them several times and eventually found a percentage she felt comfortable with, which allocated greater resources for this child.
By the end of the meeting they were relaxed and had reached a decision regarding their estate plans.
